Gum problems have been known to be one of the most widespread diseases in the world for adults – the disease covers roughly more than 50% of our population. Gum disease comes in many forms which include gingivitis, periodontitis and one of the most dreaded gum problems – receding gums. Receding gums is a byproduct of periodontal disease wherein flesh eating bacteria start eating away a person’s gums giving the teeth a look that they’re elongated or sharp. It’s a common disease among the elderly and since there is no way to make gums grow back, there has been no known way to treat the lost gums other than through flap surgery – which is a risky and painful process.
There are however effective ways on how to treat receding gums, several of which are found within the common household. Note that these methods are only to stop the gums from receding, not to make them grow back as there has been no know process on how to do that. The first method I can recommend is through increasing one’s consumption of vitamin C – since vitamin C is a vital product in increasing the healing rate of a person, we should try to get a sufficient amount of it into our diets.
Another method found to have been found as an effective treatment for receding gums is oil pulling – not only does it do good for your gums but it also has been proven to be effective against other diseases on our body as it effectively flushes out the toxins through enzymes in our mouths. The process is simple: use coconut, olive, sesame or sunflower oil to swish inside the mouth every morning for 15 minutes and spit out. The liquid by that time should be in white color which will signify the presence of toxins. Do this every morning on an empty stomach and you should experience the cure within weeks.
Treatment of receding gums doesn’t just mean using various remedies but will also require maintenance on our part. Our dental care routine – for example should be maintained by brushing our teeth and flossing every after meal. A visit to the dentist should also be scheduled and must be done every 6 months in order to receive professional advice from the dentist and get recommendations.
As they say, prevention is better than cure so if you have unhealthy dental habits or not eating correctly, immediately address it. Our teeth and gums are important assets of our lives so we should find ways to keep them healthy, always.
