This solution reduces the swelling in and around the gums and can be prepared by adding a pinch of salt into lukewarm water and mixing it. Baking soda in the water can be dabbed on the diseased gums to neutralize bacterial acidity.
Apart from gargling on the mouth, one can rub a little bit of clove oil on to the affected area in the gums. If there is no clove oil at home, one can get a small bit of clove, place it on the mouth and chew on it gently. This allows the juice to get into the gums which helps reduce the pain and swelling on the gums. Aloe vera pulp can also be rubbed on the teeth and gums to relieve the swelling of the gums.
When one is suffering from gingivitis, it is advisable to avoid foods that contain a high fat content Only the foods with low saturated fat content is recommended to help reduce the swelling in the gums. Eating plenty of vegetables and fruits, and foods rich in vitamin C and fiber can help fight gingivitis. Sugar-free cranberry juice has also been proven to be an effective gingivitis cure. Toothpaste that contains sage oil and peppermint oil has been known to reduce gingivitis at a great extent. Antibacterial mouthwashes at frequent intervals are also a great help in finding an instant relief from gingivitis.
